March Newsletter 2022

After giving your life to Christ, you agree to live according to His will. His desires become your desires, and His will becomes your will. Be attentive, for there are seasons of waiting and seasons of action. Submission is an action of obedience, surrendering to the direction and guidance of the Lord. By trusting the Lord and his ways, a peace surrounds your heart with the confidence that He has everything under control. With Him now in control, you have the freedom to rest your soul.

Honduras

My time at the orphanage in Marcala, Honduras was a very enjoyable and rewarding time with new experiences and a deeper knowledge in the Honduran culture and Spanish language. Some of the activities I helped with included teaching English, cooking, harvesting coffee, stacking firewood, cleaning, and caring for the children. I had the opportunity to engage with the kids and play with them during their free time as well as working alongside them in their daily activities. The younger boys (ages 6-8) were always playful and liked to include me in their police games. Every morning, Joel would knock on my door and point a wooden stick at me threatening to arrest me if I didn't play his favorite Disney song from the movie Coco. Britany, Jonathan's older sister, enjoyed walking with me on our way to church every Sunday. We would have conversations about our likes and dislikes with some occasional practice in English from our previous lessons. The older girls would ask me to help out in the kitchen, cleaning dishes and preparing lunch. We would laugh and joke and listen to music to help pass the time. I tried my best to practice as much Spanish as possible, but every so often we would use the aid of google translate to help with communication. It was a blessing to have the opportunity to have an impact in these children's lives. I have personal letters from each and every one of them thanking me for spending time with them and inviting me to visit again. Thank you so much for this would not have been possible without your prayers and support! My time with that ministry has come to a close as God is leading me in a new direction for this season of life. I will always have a place in my heart for Honduras, and I pray to return again in the future, and I thank God for the opportunity as well as lessons I have learned from cross-cultural ministry.

Next Steps

God has presented a new opportunity to serve Him in America! Teen Challenge has an all-girls boarding School in Alabama for troubled teens to learn and experience Christ in their daily life. I have been accepted to be a residential counselor encouraging the girls as they go through the program. I am excited for this opportunity to serve and be an encourager for these teen girls. God has a plan and I cannot wait to see what He has in store for this next season of life!
