Being back in Honduras has been exciting and refreshing. I feel as though I have returned home and am back in my environment. I am blessed to continue ministry once again in the country I love. Thanks be to God for all the opportunities and doors that He continues to reveal and open for continual ministry!

About the Orphanage

El Hogar de los Ninos a Luz de Cristo (Children's home in the Light of Christ) is located in Marcala La Paz, Honduras, and was founded 9 years ago by Pastor Salomon. Inspired by the story of George Muller, Pastor Salmon strives to model his orphanage to be a loving, Christ honoring home for children. Every morning and evening group devotions are held, and every Saturday morning the children spend an hour in prayer. They are reminded daily of Christ's love for them and are encouraged to trust the Lord in all circumstances. During the daily activities, the children learn valuable skills that build character and perseverance. From day to day the projects will be a little different, but consist of open fire cooking, caring for the animals (sheep, chickens, pigs, cows, dogs, and one cat), washing laundry, harvesting and drying coffee, stacking firewood, gardening, etc. In their free time they are encouraged to read books and play outside on the playground and will have allotted time to enjoy watching movies on the television.

Ministry Impact (What do I do?)

Currently at the orphanage there are 15 children. The youngest is 6 years old, and the oldest is 21 with younger siblings in the program. I have been placed in charge of them, and I help the kids with their daily activities and play with them during their free time. As I continue to improve in my Spanish, I have also spent some time teaching English to the children as well. My goal in ministry is to love as Christ would love. In Matthew 19:14 Jesus commands the disciples not to ignore the children but rather bring them closer to Him. Children are so loving and innocent and bring such a joy to the world. Every memory or experience in a child's life they carry with them into adulthood. I want these children's memories to be filled with the truth and knowledge of Jesus.
